About the Speaker

Daniëlle Kisluk-Grosheide is a curator in the Department of European Sculpture and Decorative Arts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where she is responsible for the collections of French and English furniture and period rooms. She has written extensively on European decorative arts and was co-author of the European Furniture in the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Highlights of the Collection (2006) as well as of The Wrightsman Galleries for French Decorative Arts (2010). She organized an exhibition Thinking Outside the Box: European Cabinets, Caskets, and Cases from the Permanent Collection (1500-1900) which was held at the Museum in 2011. In 2013 she was the co-curator of an exhibition at the Bard Graduate Center in New York, called Salvaging the Past: Georges Hoentschel and French Decorative Arts from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was responsible for the installation of a new gallery devoted to Dutch Decorative Arts at the Museum which opened in May 2013. At present she is preparing an exhibition on Visitors to Versailles for 2017.
