Dinnertime Documentaries

Enjoy summer evenings at Hillwood, complete with dinner at Merriweather Café and documentary films that dig deep in the world of America’s most fascinating photojournalists.

Mid-Century Master: The Photography of Alfred Eisenstaedt, a special exhibition at Hillwood that focuses on the photojournalist behind more than ninety LIFE magazine covers, is the inspiration behind this special film series. After viewing the exhibition, relaxing over dinner, and strolling the gardens, watch captivating documentaries about other famous photographers and their images of the most important figures and moments of twentieth-century America.

Pick up light bites and beverages from Merriweather To Go as you stroll the gardens. 
Visit the museum shop for an elegant and whimsical array of items, including gifts, accessories, jewelry and more.

Harry Benson: Shoot First

Charming British photographer Harry Benson documented American celebrities and politics for notable publications including LIFE and Vanity Fair throughout the second half of the twentieth century. Harry Benson: Shoot First shares insights into his most iconic photographs, including that of Robert F. Kennedy’s assassination and the “British Invasion” of the Beatles's first American tour.
