Social Media Community Guidelines

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens strives to create an inspiring, educational, and engaging social media community that fosters conversation relating to Hillwood's mission and the topics about which Hillwood posts. The purpose of Hillwood's social media communications is to inform and connect with visitors and the community. The guidelines outlined below will help create a courteous and safe environment. 

Hillwood adheres to the social media user policy outlined below on all social channels (InstagramFacebookTwitterPinterest, and YouTube). Comments are not pre-moderated and will be immediately released; however, we reserve the right to remove any content posted that does not observe this policy, and block or report users to violate our guidelines. 

The following will not be tolerated:

  • Harassment; bullying; profanity; threatening, libelous, obscene, or political/partisan language; attacks on or intimidation of any party, including only community members or Hillwood staff and volunteers; threats of body, physical, or emotional harm; pornographic images or statements; hate speech, including regarding gender, sexual orientation, religion, gender identity, age, ethnic origin or race; sexist comments; suggestion or encouragement of illegal activities; and demeaning remarks about personal appearance or ability 

  • Spam or fraudulent links, introduction of any software viruses, worms, or other programs designed to damage software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment

  • Advertisements, solicitations, promotional and commercial postings, or endorsements of any financial, commercial, or not-for-profit organizations, websites, unincorporated organizations or clubs, contests, or promotions

  • Posting personal information of other community members or Hillwood staff or volunteers

  • Private correspondence between the user and other community members, or the user and Hillwood

  • Impersonation of a Hillwood staff member or volunteer, spokesperson, or community member

  • Third-party intellectual property, such as copyright-protected material, trademarks, or logos without the consent of the owner of such intellectual property, and/or any violations of rights of publicity or privacy

In order to create an informative and welcoming digital community, we expect members to uphold the following standards:

  • Ensure all comments are relevant to the original post

  • Read with an open mind

  • Engage in debate respectfully

By posting, commenting, or replying on one of our posts on our social media channels, you are agreeing to abide by these social media community guidelines and further agreeing to comply with the social media guidelines imposed by the particular social media platform you are utilizing. Hillwood is not responsible for conversations about our posts that occur on another account's page.
