Enjoy enriching and educational programming year-round.

Earth Day

Meet members of Hillwood’s Environmental Action Team (HEAT) and learn about environmental stewardship initiatives vital to Hillwood, our community, and the world around us.

Sustainability at Hillwood addresses everything from the reduction of energy and paper usage to ecological horticulture practices and using native plants. Hillwood staff will share tips on what you can do at home to support the environment and will be giving away free native plants (while supply lasts).

Join two specialty talks during the event to round out the day:

Explore the Collections and Research Center native garden featuring a bio-retention pond with Jessica Bonilla, director of horticulture, during a thirty-minute tour which departs from the Ellen MacNeille Charles Visitor Center at 11:15 a.m.

Learn about sustainable gardening and how to maximize your garden’s ecological potential with Drew Asbury, horticulturist and volunteer manager, during a thirty-minute talk at the cutting garden departing from the Ellen MacNeille Charles Visitor Center at 1:15 p.m.
