Museum Educator for School Program (Part-Time)

Like many museums, Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens completely revamped our school programs during COVID. This refocus has brought a huge benefit and resulted in us increasing our school outreach in 2022 by more than 250% over pre-COVID years. To help us meet the rising demand and ensure our school programming continues to be a valuable resource for educators, we are hiring a part-time school program museum teacher. The school program museum teacher will be responsible for teaching up to 100 school programs (virtual and in-person) per year for PK-12 students. The school program museum teacher will use existing lesson plans to provide students and teachers with a welcoming, engaging, and positive learning experience.

As our school program museum teacher you will respond to teacher inquiries and schedule the programs using Zoom and Outlook. You will also manage all the logistics for each program, including supply management. The school program museum teacher also communicates with schools and teachers to spread awareness of Hillwood’s school program offerings and assist in all gathering data from teachers for program evaluations.

As an experienced teacher, you bring knowledge of working with youth audiences. You bring experience in basic art-making activities and know how to translate lessons to a virtual platform. You are a warm and engaging communicator. You have used Zoom and Microsoft products and are skilled at managing a calendar and your time. You understand the importance of logistics and communication to a successful lesson. You are able to work 24 hours a week during the hours of 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday.
