Project Management Internship

Reports to: Exhibitions & Collections Project Manager

Employment Status: Internship (10–16 hours/week), On-site

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens welcomes more than 100,000 visitors each year to experience the beauty of our gardens, the richness of our decorative arts collection, and the lasting legacy of Marjorie Merriweather Post. Our Exhibitions, Curatorial, and Collections teams work together to bring engaging exhibitions, publications, and research projects to life, ensuring Hillwood remains a leader among cultural institutions.

We are seeking a Project Management Intern for the Spring Semester of 2026 to support project coordination across exhibitions, publications, and collections initiatives. This internship is ideal for students interested in museums, cultural project management, or arts administration who thrive in collaborative, detail-oriented environments.

About the Role

The Project Management Intern will work closely with the Exhibitions & Collections Project Manager and the Collections & Curatorial Coordinator to help plan, track, and document key museum projects. Daily responsibilities include assisting with meeting logistics, organizing internal documentation, updating project calendars and spreadsheets, and supporting communication across multiple departments.

This role also contributes to exhibition and publication workflows by helping manage text drafts, coordinating with photographers and editors, and corresponding with external image rights holders. The position provides meaningful insight into how museum projects evolve from curatorial concept to final installation.

This internship is fully on-site at Hillwood’s Northwest Washington, D.C. campus. Hours are flexible within a 10–16 hour per week schedule.
