Garden Journeys: Gardener Badge (available onsite March-November or virtually, year-round)
Discover the beauty, tranquility, and whimsy of the Japanese-style garden and French parterre and design your own dream garden.
Meets the following requirements to earn the Junior Gardener Badge:

• Step 3: Learn how to choose garden plants
Bridging Ceremonies
The half-moon bridges in the Japanese-style garden are a beautiful setting for bridging ceremonies.
- $50 per troop
- Group size: 35 maximum
- Dates and times: Tuesday-Sunday, March-November, 10-11 a.m. or 3-4 p.m., subject to availability
- To request holding a bridging ceremony at Hillwood, please complete the Girl Scout Program Request Form

- Dining arrangements
- Picnicking: Bring picnic blankets and a bag lunch or snack to enjoy on the lawn in designated areas. Please note that we do not allow large coolers or any kind of special event set-up (tables, chairs, etc.) in the gardens, and music and games (frisbee, etc.) are not permitted.
- Merriweather Café: Preorder from our group dining menu or order boxed lunches for take-out. Contact grouptours@hillwoodmuseum.org or call 202.243.3914 at least two weeks or more in advance to make arrangements.
- Take-out: An assortment of sandwiches, salads, and snacks are available from Merriweather To-Go.
