Mansion Tours

Docent-led tours are not available during this time. Download Hillwood's dynamic mobile app to make the most of exploring the mansion. We ask that you please bring headphones as playing the tour aloud in the mansion is discouraged.

Please note: In accordance with CDC guidelines, visitors who are fully vaccinated may remove their face masks in outdoor spaces while using appropriate social distancing. We continue to encourage visitors to wear a mask at all times, as many of our garden paths are narrow and social distancing may not always be possible. While many of our staff and visitors are still unvaccinated, we ask all our guests to do their part in keeping everyone at Hillwood safe. While CDC guidelines note that with the efficacy of COVID vaccines, fully vaccinated people do not need to wear a mask indoors, the CDC specifies local mask ordinances still apply. As D.C has an indoor mask requirement, Hillwood will enforce mask wearing indoors at all times for all visitors, including those who are vaccinated.

Marjorie Post purchased Hillwood with the intent to leave it as a museum that would inspire and educate the public. Guided mansion tours led by our trained volunteer docents treat visitors to additional information and viewpoints about Marjorie, her rich collections, and how they are experienced today very much as they were in Marjorie’s time.

Mansion tours are included in the suggested donation and can be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis in the visitor center upon opening each day.

Hillwood members and groups of ten or more may make reservations for guided mansion and garden tours in advance.

Tours are offered at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Each tour is approximately one hour long.
