Parking
Hillwood has free parking. Three designated spaces are available for disabled parking permit holders. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Accessible Entrances
Accessible entrances are located at both sides of the visitor center. Automatic doors are not available at the mansion, due to the building's historic status; assistance is required.

Elevators
Elevators are available in the visitor center and mansion. The Collections & Research Center is accessible from the elevators at the parking deck (by appointment only).

Wheelchairs
Visitors may use mobility devices, including manual and electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and manually powered mobility aids (such as walkers, canes, and crutches) in all areas open to public pedestrian use. 

Wheelchairs are available to borrow on a first-come, first-served basis in the visitor center. If you plan to borrow a wheelchair and need assistance, please visit with a companion. 

Benches and chairs are available throughout the gardens and mansion, but visitors who need breaks from standing for long periods are asked to bring a wheelchair or use one that Hillwood has made available.

Wheelchairs are not easily accommodated in the greenhouse or French parterre. The Japanese-style garden, pavilion, Marjorie Post's bedroom suite, and Russian Sacred Arts Gallery are all entered via stairs and not accessible via wheelchair. Photographs of these areas are available upon request.

Label Text
Large-print and Braille versions of special exhibition labels and information guides are available by request in the visitor center.

Transcripts are also available for each track of the audio tours via the mobile tour.

Service Animals
Service animals are permitted on the estate. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed. Please refer to the ADA guidelines regarding service animals for more information.

Sign Language Interpretation
American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters are hired on a case-by-case basis, and we require advance notice of requests. Please call 202.686.5807 at least two weeks in advance if you would like to have a sign language, oral, or cued speech interpreter during your visit.

Assistive Listening Devices
Hillwood provides assistive listening devices (ALD) for the orientation film, lectures, and guided tours. The devices available for the orientation film, lectures, and guided tours increase the volume of the presentation through a remote headset. All assistive listening devices are available upon request on a first-come, first-served basis. Please inquire at the visitor center front desk.

Restrooms
Restrooms are available in the following locations on the estate:

• Visitor Center: Accessible with changing station
• Mansion: Accessible companion care
• Merriweather Café: Accessible
• C.W. Post: Accessible companion care with changing station
• Dacha: Not Accessible. Available on the lower level. Enter using the outdoor stairs on the side of the building.
