About this object

This tiny travelling icon represents St. Barbara wearing a miniscule martyr's crown and holding a cross in her right hand. All but her sketchily painted face and hands are visible beneath the silvered metal oklad on which a sunburst and the saint's name are engraved. Her draperies are stamped. A plain border frames the icon, and a large knop and suspension hook are attached to the top edge. The back is covered in red velvet.
