About this object

The shape of the box is a flattened oval. It is elaborately worked in several colors of gold. On the front and back is an oval medallion containing a landscape, one with a cowboy and cattle, the other with a small house. Around the body are bands, scrolls, and garlands of leaves and flowers. The cover is similarly decorated but the bottom is plain so that the box can stand upright. The thumb piece is a rose cut diamond.
