Visitor Services Associate (Part-Time)

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens welcomes over 100,000 visitors annually to experience the beauty of our gardens, the richness of our decorative arts collection, and the lasting legacy of Marjorie Merriweather Post. Our Visitor Services team plays a vital role in supporting Hillwood’s mission by creating a welcoming, informative, and seamless experience for every guest.
We are seeking a Visitor Services Associate who will serve as one of Hillwood’s first points of contact for visitors, providing outstanding customer service at our front desk, assisting with ticketing and membership sales, and supporting the overall visitor experience. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for museums, people, and hospitality, who thrives in an engaging and team-oriented environment.
About the Role:
The Visitor Services Associate is responsible for managing all front desk operations, ensuring each visitor feels welcomed and well-informed. Daily responsibilities include greeting guests, processing ticketing and membership transactions through our Tessitura database, and providing an overview of Hillwood’s programs, exhibitions, and amenities.
This role also provides administrative support by responding to visitor phone calls and email inquiries and contributes to attendance and financial reporting. Each member of the Visitor Services team also manages special projects and may participate in cross-departmental initiatives to improve the visitor experience.
The Visitor Services Associate collaborates closely with Visitor Services Volunteers, helping to coordinate their daily responsibilities and ensuring consistent, high-quality service across all touchpoints.
This position is fully on-site at Hillwood’s Northwest Washington, D.C. campus, with occasional remote work permitted a few times per year. The schedule for this position is Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday from 9:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. This position is compensated at $20.18 per hour.
About You:

Experienced in customer service or front-line roles with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Familiar with ticketing systems or CRM databases (experience with Tessitura a plus).

Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a warm and professional demeanor.

Detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to provide an exceptional visitor experience.
