About this object

In the center of the needlework is a round medallion embroidered with a frigate flying the Union Jack. It faces to the left and rests on a sea with white caps. The sky is blue with large fluffy clouds. On the upper border is embroidered the words "Outward Bound". Above the medallion is a royal crown with a curving leaf strand extending from both sides. On the left is a rose and on the right is a thistle. To either side of the medallion are ten flags, including the British Royal, the Union Jack, flags from France, Greece, Turkey, Brazil, Greece, the Netherlands and the American flag (with twenty-five stars).
