About this object

The table is in the late 18th-century French style (inspired by Weisweiler/Riesener). The top is mottled red marble. On all four sides are frieze decorations in ormolu. Intertwined garlands and bow and arrow form vertical motifs on front. A bird on right; topped by bows at corners; legs channeled and tapered downward to cubes at the extremities of the stretcher which is shaped like an intertwined H edged with twisted ormolu; a rosette in center.
