About this object

This Cartier piece serves both practical and decorative purposes. The lipstick case and compact are both enameled in black and white with lapis lazuli and diamond accents. Each component suspends from enameled chains that attach to a gold ring. The interior of the compact is fitted with a mirror and also has a small compartment for coins. The ring to which the compact and lipstick case are attached can be slipped onto a finger so that the items can also be worn as an accessory.

A combination compact and lipstick case each suspended from a black and white enamel and gold chain. This has tubular links and is gathered at the top in a thumb ring. The lipstick case is suspended from the shorter chain. This is enameled in cream with two horizontal bands of black enamel. The cover has a round lapis lazuli plaque set with a diamond in the center. The compact case hangs from the longer chain and is similarly decorated with a cream colored enamel background. There is a lapis lazuli circle set with a diamond in the center of the cover. This is flanked by two bands of black enamel each framing a stylized leaf motif. Two diamonds in a rectangular platinum setting cross the center of each band. The interior is fitted with a mirror. It is in its original case.
