About this object
A round box with a detachable cover. The top and bottom of the box are made in agate, with the sides in gold. On the lid is a miniature portrait of Catherine II under crystal. This has a gold frame set with diamonds and cabochon rubies. The frame has a scalloped design and the stones are placed at the apex of the points, alternating with gold globules. The miniature shows Catherine facing to the right, in a bust length portrait. She wears a fur wrap and a head scarf.
