Marketing and Communications Intern

Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens is seeking a Marketing and Communications intern for fall 2024. The Marketing and Communications Intern would be placed in Hillwood’s External Affairs Department.

The Marketing and Communications intern’s first project and priority will be to contribute to Hillwood’s increasing social media presence, primarily through TikTok and Pinterest. The Marketing and Communications intern will research best practices for museums on these channels in addition to brainstorming ideas, creating content, and tracking analytics. In addition to this project, the intern will work side-by-side with the head of marketing to support the daily operations and function of the department.

Following proper training, additional work might include:

•    Logging press mentions and clippings
•    Compiling editorial calendar deadlines and revising the media list
•    Monitoring and updating Hillwood’s website
•    Creating email content
•    Developing training materials for future marketing interns

By the end of the internship, the Marketing and Communications intern will be well acquainted with the broad projects that take place in an art museum’s marketing and external affairs department and will be familiar with how the department supports other ongoing work within a museum. The student will also learn about how art museums use digital engagement to make art accessible, build community, and communicate the brand of an institution.

We are seeking a Marketing/Communications or other related major college student interested in pursuing a career in museum public affairs and marketing. Candidate must have proficiency in social media channels, particularly video editing, and in Microsoft Office products.
