About this object
Vase has the Ku form. The Ku is derived from antique bronze vases. The lower part has two lion head handles, each with free hanging ring hanging from the lion's mouth. The entire surface is covered with branches and leaves in various patterns with fantastic animals. The lower part narrows as it approaches the middle rectangular section which has a lion's head on each corner with a free hanging ring hanging from each mouth. Next is the tall neck which has a central section with a lion's head and free hanging ring on two sides. Between these are carved birds in pairs facing each other. At the very top are inverted leaves. The top and bottom edge are decorated with a meander Greek key pattern. It stands on a wooden stand carved with crabs and waves. This was carved by Jerry Weaver, carpenter at Hillwood.
