About this object

The ovoid bowl is carved from white jade and has four tripod feet. The handles are formed into the shape of a bat with outstretched wings. Below each handle hangs a carved ring. Across the center is a pierced shou character that extends from a carved arch at one side of the rim to a butterfly shape at the other. They form a bridge across the mouth of the bowl. The pendant tassels fall to either side of the spout.
