About this object
One of four prints by Goncharova and Larionov for Aleksei Kruchenykh's "Hermits and Hermitesses: Two Poems" ("Pustynniki; Pustynnitsa. Dve Poemy"), published in Moscow in 1913 by G.L. Kuz'min and S.D. Dolinskii. This print depicts a Rayist landscape with distorted trees as if seen through facets of a glass of a prism (Luchism, translated into English as Rayism, was a Russian avant-garde movement founded in 1912 by Miklail Laroinov, Natalya Goncharova’s lifelong partner. Rayism was an avant-garde art movement concerned with capturing “intersections of reflected rays emanating from various objects.”) Marks: Н. Гончарова (‘N. Goncharova’ in Cyrillic letters) in the proper left lower corner (part of the print) on the obverse; ink inscription on the reverse along the bottom edge upside down relative to the direction of the drawing (the inscription is apparently unrelated to the subject-mater depicted on the obverse): Дом кн.
