About this object

This icon has once been one of the panels of the Royal Doors. St. John Chysostom is depicted with halo and full beard. He wears a bishop sakkos (dalmatic) of green brocade woven with a pattern of black crosses within circles and trimmed with a jeweled edging. A white omophor hangs from his neck. He clasps a Gospel with gold cover studded with pearls and jewels.
