About this object

The miniature is one of seven fragments from a mineological icon of saints whose feastdays are celebrated in October. The unidentified female saint stands on a grassy knoll against a blue sky, her hands clasped to her breast. Her head is covered by a brown maphorion, which she wears over a blue gown with gold highlights. A narrow border at the top is inscribed with her name, now much abraded, and the date of her feastday (4th?)
