About this object
The miniature is one of seven fragments from a mineological icon of saints whose feastdays are celebrated in October. It possibly depicts St. John Chrysostum standing on a grassy sward with distant mountains behind him. Barefoot and dark haired, he wears a pink cloak over a green gown, the folds of which are rendered in chrysography. He clutches a book under his left arm and gazes off to his right. A narrow border on the upper edge is inscribed with fragments of his name. The date has disappeared.
