About this object

This miniature pendant icon depicts St. Innocent, Bishop of Irkutsk, painted on an oval mother-of-pearl medallion in the manner of painted enamels. He wears a bishop's mitre and a yellow and white stole over a peach-colored sakkos and holds a rosary in his left hand. A halo surrounds his head and his name is painted above. The rectangular silver gilt frame is engraved with rays emanating from the medallion which is surrounded by a boarder of floral sprays in white, pale blue, black, red, and green filigree enamel. A large nob with a suspension ring is attached to the center top edge.
