About this object
Miniature of Marjorie Merriweather Post in watercolor on ivory. Her figure is seen in three quarters length facing forwards. There is a white drapery draped diagonally in the background, with a blue and gray vase set on a table at upper left (these are part of the collection see 26.15). MMP is wearing a waist length double strand of pearls and a voluminous pale blue cloak with large white fox collar. The coat is worn over a white dress. She is shown as if sitting in a chair backwards, with her right elbow resting on the back of the chair. Her right hand is holding her left hand with her arms crossed. She has brown hair with a light streak closely waved to her head, covering her ears. The miniature is under glass in a brass frame with hanger, in a fitted black leather case, lined with black velvet.
