About this object
Round miniature shows Catherine the Great, bust sized. Her hair is dressed high and she wears a crown and a wreath of laurel in her hair. Her dress is plum colored with an ermine cape over it. Around her neck is the chain and badge of St. Andrew First Called and the ribbon of St. Vladimir while the star of another order is on her breast. The frame has a row of stylized leaves carved in green gold against red gold and outlined by a rope pattern on the inner and outer sides. At top is a bowknot in yellow gold.
