About this object
On the small oval medallion is a bust-length portrait of the Empress Anna Ioannovna (r. 1730-1740). She wears the blue sash of the Order of St. Andrew First Crowned over a dress made of green silk richly brocaded with gilt thread and trimmed with lace. On her head is the small Imperial crown and her dark hair is arranged into two coils which fall over her shoulders. The background is blue gray. The reverse is pale blue enamel.
