About this object

Painting shows a winter scene in Holland. The ground is covered with ice and snow, and the river is frozen. There is a horse-drawn sleigh to the far right with man and woman riding on it and there is a dog next to it. In the center, there is a boy pushing a woman in a chair on runners in mid-foreground. To the left of them is a group of figures standing and talking. At the left is a small building with a thatched roof, under which is stored a small boat. Behind this house is another house, its roof appearing behind the boathouse. Next to them is a tall windmill, and another building with a stepped roof. Below which is another house on the edge of the river. There is a ship anchored on the water's edge, and in the far right distance is another windmill. The sky is pale blue with a few clouds.
