A portrait of Marjorie Merriweather Post seated 3/4 facing to the left in profile. She has brown hair with a frosted streak, curled in tight waves. She is wearing a long two strand pearl necklace, a white fur scarf thrown over her right arm and shoulder, and a piece of red velvet drapery over her right shoulder and left leg. She is wearing a white satin sleeveless dress cut in a low V at back, fastened by a ruby and diamond brooch, which matches the ruby bracelet and ring she also wears. In the background is a panel of red and gold brocade at the left and a piece of yellow drapery in the upper right hand corner. The upper edge of the chair is visible at the middle left of the painting.
