About this object
Reception gown of pink silk lawn with a machine embroidered ribbon motif. The sleeveless, low cut bodice is built on a boned silk foundation with an overlay of bias cut, pleated lawn and lace forming a chevron design. White tulle is woven through the cutwork of the wide lace collar. The bodice is worn with a spencer consisting of a high boned collar and three quarter length sleeves. Cloth tapes attached to an inner waist tape secure the garment in place. The chevron design, lace, and tulle trim mirror that of the bodice. The skirt is built on a silk foundation overlaid with bias cut, pleated organza. A 2" vertical pleated band at center front is decorated with clusters of cloth flowers, stems and leaves. Three ruffles of organza and lace trim the bottom of the skirt. The ensemble is completed with a silk taffeta waist sash edged with silk velvet printed with a floral pattern. The sash secures at center back under a fabric rossette, and continues, free-hanging, in two long streamers.
