About this object
Shaped, summer weight, vested jacket with open cutwork embroidery at sleeve and upper body. The flat, diamond shaped motif at side front is continued around to back. Deep bands of linen finish the sleeves. Some of the linen covered, crocheted buttons have been replaced with buttons of a slightly different style. This jacket could have been worn with any of the lingerie gowns in the collection, (48.16, 48.17, 48.18), and similarities in the sewing techniques, measurements and style of these garments indicate that they may have been ordered as a group and worn interchangeably.
