Mrs. Post wore this dress for her marriage to Edward Bennett Close on December 3, 1905. The bodice and short puffed sleeves are of silk organza with a cut lace overlay. The bodice is fitted at the waist and decorated with a large, flat rhinestone bow on the left side. The one-piece dress has a 3- inch stand collar on a silk-boned bodice and grosgrain waist tape at center back with alternating hooks and eyes. The skirt is flat in the front but full in the back to accomodate a small hip pad. Cut lace has been inverted at the left hip area and cascades down and across the front of the skirt, revealing pleated silk organza at the hem. The gown is decorated with wired lily buds, open flowers, leaves and stamens of cotton floss.
