About this object

The sarafan is sleeveless, shoulder straps are covered with applied woven metallic braid which continues around the arm holes and edges the extremely wide hem. Th whole length of the front is secured by pointed buttons in the metal filigree and loops. The pattern of the brocade is mostly red and blue, consists of large red leaf scrolls in red on a blue ground scattered with pink roses, a few green leaves and many smaller flowers.
