About this object

A white linen and cotton bed sheet with an embroidered Davies coat of arms. The coat of arms is located at the center top and has beneath it and part way down the sides two bars in applique. There is a lace cuff of Vieux Flandre in a typical scroll flower pattern. This sheet is number 11 in the linen book. Vieux Flandre means "Old Flanders" and was a term applied to lace in the 19th century. It is a combination of bobbin and needle lace and is a coarse lace that is often used on bedding.
