About this object

A white linen bed set that consists of a sheet and four pillow cases. The main design element is the Davies crest. Except for the smallest pillow case, all pieces of the set have the crest done in applique with embroidery. The crest on the smallest case is done in white work embroidery. Above the crest is an insert of Lille bobbin lace which runs across the top and part way down on each side of each piece of the set. Entwined around the inset are appliqued stylized leaves. The leaves are accented with drawn work. On each piece of the set is an edging of Lille bobbin lace. The depth of the edging is in proportion to each piece. On 45.659.3-5 the edging of lace is three and one half inches. On the smallest case, 45.659.2, the edging is one and three quarters inch. The sheet has the deepest edging of six and one quarter inch.
