About this object

This is a white linen four piece bed set that consists of a sheet and three pillow cases. Each piece has the Davies crest as a central design element. The shield of the crest is created with applique and the other elements of the crest are in whitework embroidery. Above the crest in applique are scrolls that arch in different directions and have accents of appliqued roses with drawnwork centers and appliqued leaves. All pieces of the set have a Vieux Flandre lace edging that has scattered flowers and scrolls throughout. In the corners of the lace are baskets of two flowers. The mesh is made of reseau ordinaire and petit reseau. The lace edgings are in proportion to the size of the pieces. The sheet's lace edging is seven inches deep while the pillow cases have a depth of three and a half inches.
