About this object

These edgings are from a slip or negligee. One edging is from the bodice area and the other is the hem trimming. They are an ecru Lille type machine bobbin lace with needlerun outlining. The design in the center of the bodice area of 45.552.2 is of two tulip like flowers flanked by open flowers and surrounded by leaves on a net background. Around most of the bodice edging is a peach colored silk except at the top edge. The hem edge has a much larger design as it is a deeper edging. The motifs on both are of the same pattern. On the hem edging the remnants of the peach silk material is only on one edge as the lace edge would have completed the garment.
