About this object
An 18th century, white, rectangular Point de Angleterre bobbin lace panel. The design has a center flower that is flanked on either side by peacocks, one sitting on a branch, the other flying to a branch. The branches that the birds are on are flower boughs. Next to the boughs are larger flowers. The top of the panel has a straight scallop design made up of flowers and paisleys. The lower edge has a hem in a fine bobbin lace tape. The mesh is droschel (braided on two sides). This mesh was added after the motifs were done.
