About this object
Two ecru panels with straps for armholes and back. On the straps of 45.500.1 are embroidered pink silk with a wheat design. On the right front strap of 45.500.2 is an embroidered wheat spear. It appears the panels are the front and back of a nightgown. The lace panels are 19 century Brussels "Angleterre" (a combination of bobbin and needle lace). The bobbin lace motifs are in the Duchesse-type floral with needle lace fillings. The ground is in Point de Gaze needle lace. There is a backing mesh in silk of machine net. The armholes and strap edgings are Valenciennes bobbin lace.
