About this object

An ecru flounce with Brussels applique with bobbin lace motifs applied to machine net. There are needle lace fillings and motif shading. The design is of naturalistic sprays of drooping flowers. There is a border of heart shapes with needle fillings. There are palmettes throughout. Note:Per Marian Powys article LACE AND LACE MAKING, "The Indian palmette denotes a benison or message of goodwill."
