About this object

An ecru rectangular Venise needle lace tablecloth with scalloped edge. The Hutton coat of arms is at the corners. The design is of sailboats, fisher folk, hunting scenes, stags, boars, hounds, horsemen, mermaids, flowers and eagles in medallions. The border has triangles of floral patterns interspersed with insets containing scenes such as ships, people walking, deer fighting, animals in a group and people waving to a ship. The interior of the cloth has the same floral filler with four strips of insets lengthwise and with triangular strips at the ends. These strips show people on horses, animals, carriages, and hunting scenes.
