About this object
Rug is of rectangular shape. In the center, is an eight-lobed cartouche with the initials MM interlaced against a pale blue ground. This is surrounded by a field of roses intertwined with brown scrolls on a rose ground. Next is a border with a cartouche on each corner framed with acanthus leaves and a floral spray in the center of each one. In the middle of both short and long sides are similar cartouches with contain a heart-shaped decoration enclosing stylized motifs. Flowers and scrolls on a pale blue ground fill the spaces in between. The whole is framed with a narrow black border.
