About this object
The body of the rectangular box is plain except for the rounded corners. The cover is inset with a shield intended for initials and surrounded by a belt and buckle design. These are in gold or gilt metal inset in the tortoise shell. The border of the cover is inset with elaborate formal patterns alternating in gold, metal and silver. The outer design is a series of arches, then is a series of rectangles, next is a thick band of circles. Next to this is another band of rectangles with the innermost design being a plain band.
