The square frame is made from a light colored wood, possibly birch. The grain of the wood is used as the design, with horizontal and vertical lines in the sides of the frame. It has been varnished. The inner edge of the frame has a metal beaded border. It holds a photograph of Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna holding her son, Tsarevich Alexei (56.3) in an oval opening.
