About this object

On top of the lid of the box is a seated woman playing a lute. There is a man standing to the right. He has taken his hat off and holds it in his right hand. His left hand is on his hip. They are surrounded by stylized animals in the four corners that look like dragons. There is a border with a leaf and flower style design. On the sides are hunting scenes. The front and back have a hunter, blowing his horn and hunting with his dogs. There is another hunter behind him, riding a horse. They are surrounded by large roses. On the shorter sides are castles with tall towers. They are surrounded by large roses as well. The box is lined with brocade. The faces were originally painted on cloth or paper but have faded.
