About this object
The window bench is rectangular in shape. It has high sides that are shaped like a shield in openwork. The central section of the shield is painted with a bouquet of flowers in an urn. The border areas of the rest of the bench are painted with peacock feathers and flower swags. The seat is caned and stands on six square tapered legs painted with peacock feathers. They end in a small foot topped by a cube. There is a separate fitted cushion covered with striped velvet and silk brocade decorated with fringe and tassels.
