About this object

The chair is a side chair. It has a narrow slat back that is upholstered in damask. It is topped by two winged putti who hold a shield in between them. They stand on leaf scrolls. At the top of each sloping arm is a reclining putto carved almost in the round. There are acanthus leaves at the ends of the arms. The legs are curved and form X shapes on the sides. The seat is rectangular and covered with damask. The front stretcher is shaped with a shell in the center. The back stretcher is turned. The feet show lion paw feet in the front and scroll back feet.
