About this object
The shelf consists of a shaped top placed on an ornate base. The base has been carved in the form of a pair of standing eagles almost in the round. Their wings are outspread and they have swags of drapery behind them. There is a tassel on each outer shoulder and between them is an oval boss carved with initials. Below this is two bunches of fruit and a fringed napkin. The bottom piece is curved and has a rocky design.
