About this object
The oval marble top (violette marble) follow the contours of the console with projections over the legs. The wood is gilded. The skirt about the top is carved in openwork with leaves spreading from a central motif on each of the three sides, the front panel being the largest. From the front hang two swags of roses and leaves and from the side panels only one. The panels are divided by a rectangular piece above each leg carved with a leaf motif. The tapering channelled legs have inverted acanthus leaves carved on the upper portion. A stretcher connects the two legs and on it rests an urn with a bouquet of flowers and swags reaching down on either side to form further support.
