About this object
The top is set with a radiating pattern of different colored marbles held together by a rim in ormolu decorated on the top side with a continuous row of acanthus leaves and outside by a grapevine in repousse. The channeled pedestal is in black patinated bronze with a collar in gilt bronze with acanthus leaves at the top, and a larger acanthus leaf motif at the bottom. Three large scrolls connect the channeled pedestal foot to a triangular black patinated bronze base with the corners cut off and mounted with a band of acanthus leaves in ormolu. The three feet are paired lion's paws in ormolu.
